I was worried about my opening day spot because of dog interference issues but that was dispelled with a 6:40 am kill. I started out behind the owners house to listen as a phone call from him last night indicating that he heard hens yelping near dark there. But hearing two birds further back where I intended to hunt anyway sent me scrambling in that direction. I can tell the difference in 56 yrs old as compared to early 30's when I first got after these birds.. I didn't make it there in time as it got too light for me to get to where I eventually killed him. After I could tell he de- roosted, I hustled to where I wanted to be at the top of a hill where 4 fields come together. Putting out the funky chicken and hen, I called and he answered from downhill a couple hundred yds out. So I put call down and waited. When he gobbled again he was much closer and simply strutted into my set up and shot him at 15 yds. He weighted approx 22 lbs, with 9&3/4" beard, and 1" & 1&1/8" spurs. I used the Primos power crystal and the Motherlode friction call great call Joe! I'm using an IPad so my pictures aren't on this device so I will post them later.

Great job Tim. Congratulations.
I have a nephew and his son hunting around Murray but haven't heard any results.
I hope to get to KY sometime during the season and hunt in Hardin County.
Thanks, Clark

Hey Tim, I understand things are going well for folks in western Kentucky and also in central Kentucky. Too much rain but birds are gobbling. Folks hunting our farm in Hardin County are doing well. Best of luck to you. Thanks, Clark
